Greetings from the San Antonio Founders
Charity Matthews, Carrie Anne Silvers, Arlene Duncan Post, Linda Brewster Meffert
"We're so happy to bring this unique concept to San Antonio,
and are committed to the mission of helping connect women in San Antonio.
We're proud to be the 14th group of Women & Wine on Wednesdays.
Our first event was held in October 2011, and it's already far exceeded our expectations. We look forward to seeing you soon!"
Linda Brewster Meffert first began Women & Wine on Wednesdays in 2005, as a way to bring together like-minded women to share resources and collaborate to create new opportunities to improve both ourselves and our community. Since then, many others have come to enjoy this unique opportunity as the concept has been selectively launched in many other cities. Linda loves being a Texan – what a great place to enjoy some of her favorites things: enjoying good wine and delicious food with interesting people, anything art-related, traveling to new places, helping the community, and of course - coffee! Carrie Anne Silvers grew up a military brat and moved frequently until her Father retired in San Antonio in 1986. Self employed by the age of 20, she soon found her passion in hospitality sales. She has worked within the hospitality industry in San Antonio for nearly 20 years and prides herself on creating a unique and memorable event experience for her guests. She is currently the Director of Sales & Marketing for Luke River Walk - A Chef John Besh Restaurant. She is married and has a daughter and lives at Canyon Lake where she can fully partake in her favorite activities which include swimming, kayaking, jet skiing & snorkeling to name a few. Networking is also a favorite activity which led her to her becoming a founder of San Antonio’s Women & Wine on Wednesday.
Arlene Duncan Post grew up in Edinburg, Texas and moved to San Antonio after graduating from the University of Texas – Pan American with degrees in Biology, Chemistry and History. She spent 13 years in the Financial Securities industry, went home to be a mom to her daughter and ended up running her late husband’s commercial real estate company for another 12 years. For the past five years, she has been a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) who plans corporate events for her clients. She loves to cook and entertain at home and at the coast. Networking and “people brokering” are her other passions.
Charity Matthews grew up on the east coast between New England and Maryland, especially enjoying the years she lived in a beach house overlooking the Chesapeake Bay. She had the pleasure of working for the White House office for the AmeriCorps program, the Bell/Boeing project for the V-22 ITT Helicopter, as a successful Realtor, a business owner for a cleaning company and an advertising company in Florida. She moved to Texas in 2009. She has three children, the world's best boyfriend and 4 dogs (3 of which are rescue dogs). She has a passion for helping others and loves to support charity events, especially cancer programs since she is a cancer survivor. She is the National Accounts Manager for Southwest Signs and enjoys assisting businesses with their signage needs. She loves to meet new people and takes great pride in being a "people connector”.
