This month's featured wines for $5 a glass:

Pagos de Eguren Tempranillo 2007

"When you think of Spain, it is often hard to not concentrate of the fabulous Rioja on offer. Sadly this leaves the stunning, completely underrated, Tempranillo left out in the cold. This Temperanillo is everything wines produced from Spain's leading grape variety should be and more. With fantastic aromas of red fruit and spice, it smacks of superb quality Tempranillo. The palate is soft, silky smooth and fruity making it a great evening sipper or partner for red and white meats and creamy cheeses."

Mercedes Eguren Sauvignon Blanc 2008

"Don Amancio Ugarte started wine production in 1870 and in 1957 his grandson, Anastasio Jesús Victorino Eguren Ugarte (Victorino), founded Bodegas Heredad Ugarte, building a new winery in the Rioja Alavesa town of Laguardia in 1989. The Mercedes Eguren line is named for one of his two daughters, both of who play an active role in the family business.

This 100% Sauvignon Blanc is crafted with fruit purchased from the La Mancha vineyard of Amaneceris and is the first non-Spanish grape varietal produced by Bodegas Heredad Ugarte. It has an attractive pale color, with a nose full of tropical fruit, particularly pineapple and mango, along with macerated, aromatic herbs and syrup. The palate is potent and dry, maintaining perfect balance between fruit and alcohol, with a gentle, rounded finish."
