Past Events 2008
Savvy Gourmet was the place for the May event. We featured wines from Cesare Winery in Italy.
Veramonte Merlot and Chardonnay from Chile were featured at the April event held at Landry's Seafood at West End.
March we met at the charming Le Citron Bistro, and drank every last drop of the featured wine from Sagelands Vineyards! WWWers came out in numbers, overwhelming the small staff at times. But they made up for it with the lavish buffet spread that included lamb chops and bacon wrapped asparagus.
For February, we met at Partysist and enjoyed wines from from Shinas Estates winery in Autralia.
Women & Wine started off 2008 at Rio Mar and enjoyed two Spanish wines: 2006 Almira Los Dos, Campo de Borja and 2006 Martin Codax Albarino, Rias Baixas.
Past Events 2007
The last Women & Wine for 2007 was held at Swirl. There was a tasting of three wines: Château Lamothe de Haux Bordeaux Blanc 2006, Lucien Albrecht Cremant d'Alsace Brut, 2003 Domaine la Roquette Chateauneuf-du-Pape.
Women & Wine returned to the W hotel for the November 2007 event. Everyone enjoyed Kim Crawford Pinot Noir from New Zealand and Von Buel Riesling from Germany.
Whole Foods was the site for the October 2007 Women & Wine. Participants sampled fine cheeses along with a flight for four wines: Chateau La Graviere, Santa Cristina Sangiovese, Finca Antigua Tempranillo, and Ravenswood Zinfandel.
Women & Wine met at Swirl again for the September 2007 event. Everyone enjoyed a tasting flight of: Sella & Mosca Terre Bianche Torbato, Planeta La Segreta, Planeta La Segreta Rosso and Sella & Mosca Tanca Ferra.
Woman & Wine were back at W.I.N.O. for August 2007. In addition to enjoying the variety of wine available from the Enomatics, a special tasting of a flight of 4 wines was also offered: Esperto Pinot Grigio, Handley Chardonnay, Bodega Septima Tempranillo, and Resilience Cabernet Sauvignon.
July 2007 Women & Wine met at Swirl and did a tasting featuring 4 wines from Eberle Winery, a Viognier, Syrah Rosé, Barbera and a Sangiovese.
June 2007 Women & Wine met at the recently opened Wine Institute of New Orleans, AKA "W.I.N.O." W.I.N.O features devices called Enomatics, a "smart" machine that dispenses proportioned wine pours in a matter of seconds. Everyone got to try various wines from around the world.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays met at The Delachise again for the May 2007 gathering. The featured wine were Torrontes and a Syrah/Bonarda blend by Crios de Susana Balbo, a women-owned winery in Argentina.
April 2007 Women & Wine on Wednesdays met at The Delachise. The features wine were from the Chateau Camplazens winery from the Languedoc region in the south of France; 2001 Chateau Camplazens "La Garrigue" Syrah/Grenache blend and 2004 Chateau Camplazens Viognier.
Women & Wine met one last time in March 2007 at LaCote Brasserie. The featured wines were Barton & Guestier Mâcon-Villages Chardonnay 2002 and Barton & Guestier Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2002. A number of women stayed after for the fixed-price, 3-course dinner.
A special
Women & Wine on Wednesdays event was held Sunday, March 11 at the New Orleans Museum of Art to view the exhibit Femme, Femme, Femme: Paintings of Women in French Society from Daumier to Picasso for the Museums of France. Wine was not served, but refreshing iced coffee, donated by French Market Coffee, was.
February 2007 Women & Wine on Wednesdays met at LaCote Brasserie. The featured wines were Cape Mentelle
CABERNET MERLOT 'TRINDERS' and Cape Mentelle
SAUVIGNON BLANC SEMILLON from Australia.

We met again at LaCote Brasserie for the January 2007 Women & Wine on Wednesdays. The featured wines were 2 up Shiraz from Australia and Clean Slate Riesling from Germany.
Past Events 2006
December 2006 Women & Wine on Wednesdays met at LaCote Brasserie located in the Renaissance Arts Hotel in the Warehouse district. Three wines were featured: Banfi Centine Rosso, Banfi Le Rime both from Italy, and Cristalino Rose Sparkling from Spain.
Mae Lizama won this month's bottle of wine, compliments of LaCote Brasserie.

We met again at Tommy's Wine Bar for the November 2006 Women & Wine on Wednesdays. The featured wines were Omrah Wines from the West of Australia.
Tommy's Wine Bar in the warehouse district hosted the October 2006 Women & Wine on Wednesdays. The featured wines were The Jib 2004 Pinot Noir and The Jibe Sauvignon Blanc 2005 from New Zealand.
The W Hotel was the location for September 2006's gathering. The W provided a D.J., plus fresh fruits and a cheeses for nibbling. A variety of reds and whites from Chalone Vineyard were enjoyed.
The August 2006 meeting was held at Cork & Bottle Fine Wines with hand made Italian wines from Oriel Wines.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays met again at the Bridge Lounge for July 2006. The featured wines were Shiraz and Chardonnay from Andrew Peace Wines in Australia.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays celebrated it's one-year anniversary June 21, 2006 at the Bridge Lounge. A record number of women showed up to mix, mingle and connect while enjoying the Spanish wines of Mederaño.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays met at Fire! again for the May 2006 event. The featured wines were Mènage à Trois Rosè and Red Flyer. New Orleans Living magazine provided appetizers.
Women & Wine on Wednesdays met in the courtyard of Fire! for the April 2006 gathering. The featured wines were Castle Rock Sauvignon Blanc
and Chariot Diana.
The March 2006 event was at Zea's on St. Charles Ave. Donations were collected for the Women's Shelter at the historic New Orleans Rescue Mission. The featured wines were Camelot Chardonnay and Merlot.

Our February 2006 meeting was held at loa in the International House. Our featured winery was E. Guigal, located in the northern Rhone Valley in southeast France. This month's donations went to the United Way Recovery Fund for the Greater New Orleans Area.
Our first post-Katrina meeting was held Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at Sip Wine Market, 3119 Magazine Street, a women-owned wine store that opened this fall. For $10, participants were treated to a flight of 8 different wines from women-owned wineries. Some familiar faces as well as a number of new enjoyed wine and exchanged business cards.
Our third meeting was held August 17, 2005 at the Wine Loft. This month's donations benefited Covenant House New Orleans.
Sponsor: Beaulieu Vineyard, Napa Valley.
Women and Wine on Wednesdays second event was held on on July 20, 2005 at The Wine Loft. Over 40 women from a variety of industries participated. No admission was charged but the suggested donation of $5 to Louisiana Landmarks Society raised $45.
The sponsor was Terrazas de los Ande, a winery from Argentina, featuring a Taste of Argentina’s Terrazas “Alto Series” Chardonnay, Malbec, Cabernet, at a discount of $5 a glass.
Women and Wine on Wednesdays kicked-off their first event on June 8, 2005 at The Wine Loft. No admission was charged but the suggested donation of $5 to Dress for Success raised $100.
35-40 women from a wide variety of companies mixed and mingled, making new contacts and enjoying half price glasses of wine.
The sponsor winery was Casa Lapostelle. Casa Lapostelle is small winery near Santiago in Chile owned by the Marnier-Lapostelle Family. A special tasting flight and presentation was available for $15. |
